These workouts are intense and there is no holding back.
The Kettlebells provide an overall body workout and a great balance between strength and conditioning. My kettlebell workouts were more focussed on cardio as my gym work already exposed me to the muscle building requirements and the different kettlebells workouts allowed me to push the heart rate to the limit.
I was lucky to experience training sessions with all the instructors, and this brought great variety to the training sessions. I had some pretty intense core sessions, combined kettlebell and boxing sessions and a dice role workout but I have to say the 80 swings set Anna ran was the killer for me! Sorry boys, there was no mercy from Anna.
The end result of my training with NZ Iron was definitely the best condition of my life, improved core stability and the NABBA NZ Open Athletic Tall title at the Nationals.
I would recommend Kettlebells to anyone looking for an overall body workout, improved conditioning, increased strength or even injury rehabilitation.
I will definitely be using NZ Iron again in my preparation for next year’s competitions.
I hate it, but I love it!!

I enjoy functional kettlebell training, if done properly there's hardly a risk of injury, so no interruption to my full-time boxing training. Kettlebells has enhanced my training, once I added Kettlebells to my program, I noticed an increase in the power of my punches.
I would recommend Kettlebells to anybody because of their versatility. Kettlebells can be used to rehabilitate injuries, improve functional movement or focus on strength.
But for me, it’s still the cardio and strength training all in one session.
I have recently become certified as an Instructor through the NZ Iron Kettlebell Certification program as I can see how beneficial it would be with my P.T clients. They love the style of training and have noticed significant improvements in their boxing sessions.

I have personally certified as a Kettlebell Instructor with NZ Iron and I highly recommend the two day course. They not only teach the technique, but most importantly, they teach you HOW to teach the technique to your clients properly and safely!!
There are too many PT's out there teaching clients how to use Kettlebells incorrectly resulting in injury - that needs to stop. We highly recommend NZ Iron's courses to all PT's, Bootcamp and Crossfit Instructors.

I have discovered a new love in Kettlebells after attending the NZ Iron Certification course. The whole experience was totally new to me as the lightest Kettlebells I have used previously were 20kgs so had only tried wide legged squats and that was it. I loved getting in there and learning the upper body techniques, as well as a whole new range of lower body, using manageable sized Kettlebells.
I am very passionate about fitness and training, as well as my clients so I am always keen and eager to learn and then implement new training styles.
Kettlebells really appealed to me as I found the off-centred weight a whole new challenge after only having used dumbells and barbells in the past. I found it challenged me to work a lot harder and it woke up muscles I had not used before. In the week between the course and the exam I trained hard using Kettlebells and found in just one short week I could notice my body changing. As a trainer I know the importance of changing your workouts on a regular basis ideally every 4-6 weeks to keep your body guessing and changing, and Kettlebells most definitely does this.
I am also a great believer in free weight training, which is something I push to my clients in Bodypump and now also in Kettlebells.
My gym is based in Mangere and my clients are generally people who train rarely or not at all and have come into our gym looking to change and modify their lifestyle. My clients want to extend their life and get the most out of it as a fit and active individual. Once this type of client has learnt basic technique I love to get them onto free weights as soon as possible, rather than being locked into a machine, as this works their functional fitness that they use in their everyday activities such as carrying their children, putting out the washing etc. I feel it is very important to strengthen their bodies in this functional way to ensure they maintain a full range of motion as they move on in life as well as strengthen all the little supporting muscles around the joints helping to prevent injuries. Kettlebells provides a great addition to the type of training I can prescribe to build this type of fitness and it is something new and exciting for them to try. I also find Kettlebells a great training technique as I that find work out sessions do not have to be very prolonged to provide real results, which suits the time challenged client very well. I myself find I can hit a 15 minute Kettlebell session in the morning before getting into a cardio class and it works me hard and pumps me up ready for class.
I would recommend Kettlebells to anyone looking for a new challenge and a great workout. I look forward to furthering my knowledge in Kettlebell training through the NZ Iron Kettlebell Training Institute and building up my range of techniques before I prescribe anything to my clients I must first myself train it to know how it feels as that is very important when training someone else.
My colleague Johnson and myself from our gym Fitness 24/7 both participated in the NZ Iron training course and have since purchased a set of Kettlebells that we can use to train ourselves and our clients. So far we are loving every minute.
Bring on the future and more Kettlebells to come!!!

I highly recommend NZ Iron, the knowledge Darryl, Anna and Johno possess is world class. The main focus of the institute is directed towards proper technique and the benefits of every exercise. One attribute that attracted me to NZ Iron was the passion they have for kettlebells which is inspiring! There is no such thing as can't but there is hard work and determination, and they will help you achieve your goals. The motivation of the instructors to push through has taught me to leave nothing behind. I always feel destroyed but I always want more and want to keep making a heart of elastic steel.
